It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.

 Name: Norma Perez

Gender Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

What do you currently do for work and/or school?: I am the owner of a fully vegan fully Salvadoran plant-based cuisine, The Salvi Vegan with over 45 veganized Salvadoran dishes.

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: I am a silly, wears her heart on her sleeve type of person who is loyal to her people and wants to help out as much the community like she was helped when young.

What are you passionate about?: The arts and making people feel good and achieve greatness through it.

Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: It is extremely important because we need to have our community see ourselves in a good light and showing the younger generation that they can and will achieve their dreams if they work hard and believe it. Too many times we as people of color are seen in negative content and we need to show that we are resilient when faced with adversity. We are phenomenal and have given so much to this world.
