Scholars of Color- Xavier Pratt
What is Scholars of Color?
It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.
Let us now welcome Xavier Pratt to the Scholars of Color space!
Name: Xavier Pratt
Gender Pronouns: He/Him/His
What do you currently do for work and/or school?: Freelance makup artist / model / art director / influencer
Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: Healer/ empath / artist, Hardworking & uplifting. I’m a jack of all trades master of none. Well blended melting pot of race from around the world. I’m a brown skin man with African descent empowering the youth. And being a representation of what it truly is to be YOURSELF!
What are you passionate about?: Art / manifestation. Making others feel beautiful inside and out.
Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: I think it’s important to have a group of people to empower one another, culturally inform one another and bring more awareness into each backround. And embrace the changes moving forward by being powerfully intertwined.
If people are interested in getting connected to you, how can they?: Social media on any platform. My DM is always open through Instagram @mrfunkyunicorn.
Anything else you would like us to know?: I’m a survivor of suicidal attempts. Yes more than one. I’ve always had this inner sabotage thinking I would never have the capability of getting to each new height. And somehow I always manage to pull through, it may not look like I have such a dark path but read these words... diamonds cannot be made without PRESSURE AND HEAT! If you’re ever in a position where you’re at that breaking point.... cool yourself down with some self love and SHINE BABY! Your diamond shape has just been perfected!
You can always overcome your fear with a little faith and the word of god even if you’re not religious. Spirituality is a beautiful thing to tap into. Once you do you won’t give up.. we are humans, we are made to feel. But don’t give up. It does get better.
Thank you Xavier for sharing space with us!
