What is Scholars of Color?

It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.

What's your current occupation? (i.e. Student, Scientist, Coach, In transition, etc.): graduate student

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: A funny, caring person who loves to be present and help others

What are you passionate about?: I am passionate about helping my community navigate higher education. This includes first-gens, undocumented/DACAmented, and other disadvantaged folks.

What does the representation of Scholars of Color mean to you?: That REPRESENTATION MATTERS! Seeing scholars of color who look like us and share similar stories to ours, can encourage people to not give up, seek mentorships, and build a strong community.

Anything else you would like us to know?: Being a scholar of color has its challenges but it is also a beautiful thing! I look at it as a reminder that we are all strong resilient individuals!
