It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.

Name: Annabel Garcia Torres
Gender Pronouns: She/Hers
What do you currently do for work and/or school?: I currently host and produce my own podcast. I also produce podcast for other people.
Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: I’m a pretty driven person but I also love life. I like to experience all the things life has to offer. I’m loving, observant and I have a pretty good sense of humor.
What are you passionate about?: I’m passionate about a lot of things. One of the driving forces for the work I do is empowering Latinx youth. Growing up I and many like me didn’t see the huge potential we hold within ourselves as a community. I want people younger than myself to fully embrace their latinidad as a huge part of American history.
Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: We all don’t need to be scientists, writers, teachers, engineers, or actors when we grow up. However, it’s important we see ourselves in those roles. To see scholars of color allow our imagination to place ourselves in those roles. It makes dreams tangible.
