What is Scholars of Color?

It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.

Let us now welcome Daniel Cano to the Scholars of Color space!

Name: Daniel Cano

Gender Pronouns: he/him/his

What do you currently do for work and/or school?:  I’m one of the members of hip hop duo, senadanielcano.

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: I am a creative, healer, vegano, and spoken word / hip hop artist. I’m on the virgo/leo cusp with a Sagittarius moon and Scorpio rising. I found out my life path number is one so leadership grounded in spirit and community is important to me. I am resilient, bright, and rooted with my ancestors.

What are you passionate about?: Healing people of color through ancestral modalities, debunking veganism, youth empowerment and leadership development, addressing mental health through creative arts, and leveraging the power of hip hop to heal ourselves, ancestors, animals, and the planet.

Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: Because our stories are valuable and matter. It’s so easy to feel isolated and insignificant in fields/industries that have kept us out for so long. Platforms like this remind us and show that we are here and not going anywhere. It’s also a beautiful way to see super dope people building their legacy that’ll impact 7 generations from now.

If people are interested in getting connected to you, how can they?: Best way to connect is on ig: @kidcano & @senadanielcano to support the música! Our music, videos, and merch his available at www.senadanielcano.com; email is danielcanx@gmail.com

Anything else you would like us to know?: I’ve played small for a while and am ready to get out there and connect with like minded folx / kindred spirits. I am very humbled to say that one of our songs, “Changes” has garnered over a quarter million Spotify streams in under a year. I’d love to connect with other creatives to support manifesting each other’s vision.
