What are you passionate about?: Education and dismantling diet culture
What does the representation of Scholars of Color mean to you?: A space where LGBTQ+ people of color are honored, celebrated and validated for their humanity and contributions to society

Anything else you would like us to know?: Dr Hortencia Jimenez is a Mexican immigrant raised in Watsonville California who is first generation college graduate. Dr. Jimenez is an Educator, Author, Health Coach and proud mother. She currently works full -time teaching Sociology at the community college where the majority of the students are first generation and come from working class underrepresented backgrounds. She has numerous publications in leading academic journals. She is the author of "Challenging Inequalities: Readings in Race, Ethnicity and Immigration” and is currently working on a second book project on co-authoring an undergraduate Latinx college textbook.
