Scholars of Color- Juan Acosta
What is Scholars of Color?
It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.
Let us now welcome Juan Acosta to the Scholars of Color space!

What do you currently do for work and/or school?: I’m currently working as state wide Mental Health program coordinator and I am a National Mental Health & LGBTQ+ advocate & National Speaker.
Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: I would describe myself as someone fearless and resilient. I am someone who wakes up every morning and I work towards my goals and mission.
What are you passionate about?: I am passionate about creating change. I am passionate about contributing positively to others’ life. I am passionate about bringing people together and learning from and about others.
Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: This representation is important because oftentimes scholars of colors are not allowed to shine in platforms or there can be many barriers to get to that place. Which is why I believe being represented here is so important.
