What is Scholars of Color?

It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.

What do you currently do for work and/or school?: MFT student, Creator of Brown Badass Bonita, Author

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?:  a mujer mariposa, a revolutionary intent on liberation through self love

What are you passionate about?: empowering self and mujeres to love themselves, advocating for marginalized peoples, and celebrating our cultura

Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: We need us. We need to see us thriving and in positions of power. We need to see people who look like us in classrooms not made for us. I've been in classrooms in which I was the only non-white person present. It was so refreshing to see people who looked like me and came from similar backgrounds as me. POCs in the classrooms became my chosen family, support system, and safe haven.

Anything else you would like us to know?: Celebrate one another. Don't be afraid to speak up. Take note of oppressive systems at work in your institutions--change them. We need people of color to rise up, take up space, and revolutionize the currently broken and oppressive systems.
