What do you currently do for work and/or school?: Higher Education (Orientation, Transition, and Retention)

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: A proud, educated Black Woman who is also a mom, spouse, daughter, mentor, and friend. I am blessed to have a large network of colleagues and students built over my 20+ year career in higher education.

What are you passionate about?: Supporting the success of all students, especially students of color. I have a special place in my heart for mentoring women of color on the doctoral journey.

Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: It is very important for young people to see themselves in scholarship. To see images of men and women of color who have successfully navigated an education system that has historically disenfranchised people of color. Academic achievement and student success at all levels of education is attainable and I am one of many who work everyday to support success for all students.
