Name: Aaron Johnson

Gender Pronouns: He/Him/His

What do you currently do for work and/or school?: Educator/Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity Consultant/Lecturer on Implicit Bias in Education/Keynote Speaker

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: I would consider myself the fortunate foster kid, who fought hard not to become a stereotype.

What are you passionate about?: I am passionate about broad institutional equity. However, one of the important keys to institutional equity is education equity. My mission is to make my students of color understand that there are seemingly insurmountable challenges out there. However, it is essential for them to step up to and deal with them in the face of perceived futility. I am passionate about inspiring them to be solution-based thinkers and problem solvers. I want to inspire my adult students of color to become true leaders and visionaries for structural change.

Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: Our children need to see the possibilities of tomorrow regardless of the hopelessness of today.

If people are interested in getting connected to you, how can they?: They can go to my website: elevatedleadershipperspectives.comor email me at: draarondjohnson@gmail.com or connect with me on Linkedin at: linkedin.com/in/aaron-d-johnson-ed-d-427a5898

Anything else you would like us to know?:Young people of color are meant to soar beyond the clouds and shine like the stars that they are. Their motivation, work ethic, decision making, and choices will be the determining factors in their outcomes. Older people of color are like flowers who have made it through the storm. They can still grow from the next day’s sunlight. The gift of the experience of our OG’s coupled with the exuberance of our youth can be a formidable combination to affect change. Affecting change in systems of oppression is necessary if equity is our goal. Let' get it!

Thank you Dr. Johnson for sharing space with us!
