What is Scholars of Color?
It is a platform in which scholars of color are purposefully celebrated. It’s a space where scholars of color are showcased front and center. It is a digital space where we feel empowered and resilient. Let us get to know each other. Let us cheer each other on AND show the world what we have to offer.

What do you currently do for work and/or school?: Instructor at New York Film Academy-Los Angeles, Speaker, Freelance Journalist
Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: I define myself as someone who is committed to centering truth and authenticity in everything I do. I also consider myself an empath and resilient.
What are you passionate about?: I am passionate about centering joy in my work. For so long, I let my work define me while realizing that I wasn't happy. Now, everything I do is from the heart.
Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: I think often people believe that they have to receive validation from other scholars for the work to matter, not realizing they are the reason for their own success. I want folks to see me, what I have been through and what I have been able to accomplish and remember they deserve to give themselves more credit. The field, the work: does not make you. You make you. I want people to remember that. The titles, the awards, the "validation" will always be there. But self worth will always mean more.

Anything else you would like us to know?: I often think about the words Beyoncé shared in her "Homecoming" documentary. I do what I do so that other queer Black non-binary folks can feel seen. I want them to know that they are seen and that I fight so that they don't have to. <3
