Gender Pronouns: She/Her/Hers/Ella

What do you currently do for work and/or school?: Graduate Student Assistant

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: PROUD Mexican-American, strong and independent first generation womxn, eldest of 5 siblings, sCHOLar, daughter to parents that immigrated to this country in the pursuit of a better life. I would describe myself as a beaming ray of sunshine always radiating positivity. I love to support people's journey en route to self discovery and growth in their holistic development. When I am not in school, working, or completing papers/readings for school... I love to spend time with my loved ones and partake in invigorating/spontaneous activities and go out dancing as well!

What are you passionate about?: Serving historically disadvantaged student populations (first-gen, low income, marginalized communities), social justice, advocacy, inclusivity, equity, human rights, access and empowerment, dismantling systemic barriers, advocating self love/care, fostering spaces in which people feel seen, heard, and valued.

Why is the representation of scholars of color important to you?: The up and coming generations need to see themselves represented in many spaces as possible. My identities are all very important to me and have helped inform my purpose for the work that I do in this field. I look forward to the work we as a collective will do today and moving forward to continue to instill motivation and empowerment to our fellow colleagues of color and forthcoming generations in the ever-changing system of higher education. If I can do it, so can you! SI SE PUEDE mi gente!
