Name: Danielle Muñoz

Location: Sacramento, CA

Gender Pronouns: She/Her

What's your current occupation? (i.e. Student, Scientist, Coach, In transition, etc.): University Administrator

Without positions or titles, how would you describe yourself?: I am a champion for positive and socially impactful change. I am a servant leader and take the time to learn about what people need to have a better quality of life. I am a healer, restorer and passionate about elevating voices into action and services that benefit my community. I have created programs and services that promote mental health, food and housing stability, and am committed to a life-time of learning, advocacy and being a co-conspirator to those whose voices have been oppressed.

What are you passionate about?: Mental health access and advocacy around basic needs; empowering marginalized voices and advocating for myself and others.

What does the representation of Scholars of Color mean to you?: I am a Latina with a Master's Degree and also Licensed in Marriage and Family Therapy. This is an incredible privilege given the historical cultural, educational and financial oppression that my community has faced. I have worked very hard to achieve these milestones in my life and while title and positions do not define me, they are a reflection of the hard work and dedication I have put into myself. In everything I do, I am reflecting my culture, my ancestors, and all the wonderful lessons and values passed down to me from generations before me. I stand as a scholar of color proud of what my family has given me and my opportunity to build generational mental and financial wealth for the future.

If people are interested in getting connected to you, how can they?:  LinkedIn- Danielle Munoz

Anything else you would like us to know?: I recognize that the Latinx community has experienced barriers to accessing mental health and as a result, have not had the opportunity for healing in the past. I commend all the gente that are working to break generational barriers and building healthy generational MENTAL WEALTH. I co-founded Nopal Kweenz podcast, a platform that highlights mental health perspectives from the Latinx community, elevates Latinx voices in the conversation around mental health, and provides support and education to those who are on their healing journey. It is my pride and joy and now have a new co-host who is fantastic. You can catch our conversations/episodes on Apple, Google and Spotify podcast platforms. We will reclaim our wellness- Si Se Puede Gente!

Thank you Danielle for sharing space with us!
